🎥tender moment....beginsss now... 🌻🌾Tomboi started as a concept for a solo EP while I was still working with Ritual Union and Wild Life Society. My cat sheldon was the first to like Surrender. I played a couple random shows with projects like Caught A Ghost and Supermagical to test the waters. People seemed to dig it and I got invited by power house Emily Kempf to come play an unofficialSXSW show at a gay bar in austin, Texas. I wasnt going to go, it wasnt on my radar or furthermore in my budget. 💸 One hung over breakfast I told Paige about SxSW, she threw a french fry at me, we walked to Summer Woods spot and essentially Tomboi went from this whatevasolo thang my cat liked a lot to the queer epicness it is today. One year and a million emojis later Tomboi has become this thing I would have never thought couldve existed in Jax...in Duval county.....you know the one that got so much coverage recently from The Daily Show for our backwards human rights policies and practices. Giving all their viewers this concept our city hates its citizens. Politically perhaps, but this southern citys people rally together and fight intolerance with things like mass gay weddings for all in public spaces, open acceptance and support for queer core 904 artists like Tomboi andTwinki, and essentially continue to push forward against everything that has always pushed us back. this music video has almost 1k views in just one week and hopefully represents duvals seemingly unheard and misrepresented cultural microcosm. It truly only the scratches the surface of what the minds residing in jax are up too. This video was brought to fruition by the brilliant bff duo Keagan Anfuso & Paige Mcmullen and a lil help from other super creatives like John Powers and David Lee.
