the white and indegenous pirates of revolutionary era macchias maine(then part of mass) used similar tactics against british trade vessels, to disrupt trade, and fund revolutionary political agenda with booty. similar to what some somalian pirates use in more recent days to disrupt american trade, to fund successionist, independence-based political agendas. the british used similar propaganda as america uses today to frame revolutionaries as murderous raping savages, lazy, unproductive, and self serving criminals, similar to how castro, chavez, mandela, any activist, revolutionary or anyone who lives alternatively is framed by anyone in power. This propaganda goes as far back in western recorded history as the tribal centauri, as depicted in the centaur myths by hellenic colonists, in ancient greek imperialist agenda. people have been organizing guirrilla economic and political resistance in somalia ever since mossolini colonized the peaceful and prosperous region earlier part of last century. after ww2 the world bank took over economic development, at the leadership of developed nations to make sure interests opposed to western imperialism, such as tribalism and communism, and alterntive forms of imperialism like fascist and fundamentalist regimes, were not able to find root or spread. This is all very similar to what happened in the new world. interesting how history repeats itself.
