to Heady Times! Luckily still here to cherish and I hope still many more similar extravaganzas to come. Listening to the last few songs of this really brought me back to a peak moment in our recent endeavors as a band/group. Throwing a festival is a ridiculous thing to do - especially independently and with nothing but the support of grassroots people, fans of live experiential art and community. It teaches you to put it all on the line essentially for everyone else since its likely you wont make a profit (unless you can count the amazing ripples and compliments that can cascade forth from your show). I had never thrown a festival before Rootwire and I honestly wouldnt really recommend it to anybody who isnt up for losing their mind. I like what Paradise Music & Arts Festival did this weekend. Limited capacity start up gathering and allow yourself some limitations so you dont get lost in your imagination. They are going to follow up in October with Resonance Music & Arts Festival which is going to be a really dialed in look at some artists that have really come to fruition in just the past few years in another intimate but slightly bigger environment w/ Papadosio, Nahko, ESKMO, Dopapod, Bluetech! My initiation into festival culture had a party, moment to moment side to it - but I also found it to be my learning, training and meeting ground for breakthroughs in my personal and spiritual development. To build a space where that could happen for maybe just a thousand other people is one of the coolest things Ive ever done and Im so glad it worked and I hope to do it again when the time is right. Im not sure its an annual thing for me personally. Once it ends, it begins again and it becomes really difficult to let it go. Artists of all kinds all have to learn how to let go often times just to come back. Ill miss the greatest birthday party Ive ever had - thank you all the amazing people that made it so magic, but lets see what happens next! ^_^ !
