tough day at Wainui for our E grade team .. Id love to be all positive and say we came third - but ... there were only 3 teams competing The team we feared the least turned up with 3 unknown pimple faced young lads that turned the competition on its head - taking it out only losing two matches along the way Bragging rights for the day go to Cameron who open our day with a hard fought 3-1 victory - he backed that up in the second game also taking it 3-1 .. I believe those two wins have propelled him into D2!!! Great job Cam Everyone else gave it their best - Barry went painfully close losing in 4 and 5 - a valiant effort in his first against one of the young unknowns Andy got literally smashed out in his first game (opponent only knew one speed and that was THUMP!!)- held his nerve to take a game but that was it and unfortunately things turn for the worst in his second match and he had to default with a bad back injury :( Logan tried hard and lost closely in 3 to one of the young ones in his first - and showed amazing resolve in his second to come back from 2 - 0 down to take the match in 5!! Bruce tried hard but just hasnt really been himself this season Me - hmmm well I got totally blown away by one of those braces wearing kids that will be in C grade in the new year - popped my knee in first game (and was subsequently told by Hamish that my tournament was over) not that it would have changed the result so no excuse from me, just out played So not the result we hoped for (especially me as I sit here on the eve of my Queenstown trip with my knee strapped up) but some positives to take out of it Well done to Cam (Cheryl owes you a new racket I believe hehe), great heart from the rest of the boys and on behalf my team I want to say a big THANK YOU to Hamish for all the training (killing!!!) he has given us. Next year we will win D grade
