we might not have this any longer in this country, or at least not in forms we can easily see...but it is happening in other places around the world..child slave labor works teh cocoa plantations in western Africa for example. as unions have been broken up, their power diminished in teh work place, or not available to new work forces in other places around the globe, slave labor flourishes. they might no longer have physical chains but they are chained nonetheless. part of teh strive towards democracy is the ability of workers to have a voice in the workplace or else it is just another form of fiefdom that degrades into slavery.
