We have a lot of dogs & puppies arriving soon (thanks to YOUR support & donations) and our funds are very low. We began this fund-raiser BEFORE we found out the status of the two dogs so we want to fill you in. DUKE was surrendered to the shelter because he was killing chickens and the owner was going to shoot him. Thank goodness, the owner surrendered this very handsome boy to the shelter. Duke is a sweet and energetic 2 years old, great with people and children. He hasnt been tested with chickens though. Now for baby Rocky. Although hes also a Chocolate Lab mix, there seems to be no relation to Duke since they came to the shelter at different times. Rocky hasnt had a good life so far - he was thrown into a ditch on the side of the road. Rocky was a happy baby as you can see by the photo with his tail wagging. He was fine for two days but then stopped eating and began to throw up. He was rushed to the Vet and the worst was confirmed - Rocky has Parvovirus. This is a contagious, deadly disease so were so grateful that he was in quarantine at the time. In most shelters, Parvo is a death sentence because the risk of an epidemic is ever-present. Rocky is very young and extremely vunerable to this disease. Parvo makes an animal throw up and have diarrehea. They wont eat or drink and can barely move. A puppy doesnt have much to fall back on because their immune system isnt that great. Well be honest - Rocky might not survive this. If he does, hell grow up to be a healthy dog. We have to pray that he CAN survive. Even if we cant raise the funds to take both dogs, wed surely like to pay the Vet bills for Rocky. He could have been put to sleep - most shelters would have done that. We want him to survive. PLEASE donate whatever you can for Rocky and for Duke. #thejoshuafund
