Add annexes if necessary. > When writing (see tag words below), remember: >> keep to the facts >> be polite (it’s not the ombudsman/ the EU killing the dogs, but Romanian officials – we are ASKING the Commission to step in, REQUESTING this body to meet its duties and responsibilities) >> Refer to traceable information, that is freely accessible or even already known to the people dealing with your complaint (information provided by media, links to reports on the internet, etc.) >> Attach photos or files, if available to you (not obligatory, as long as you adhere to the above and complete the entire 11-step-process) >> TAG WORDS to help you formulate your complaint: - Romania has legalised the mass-killing of stray dogs - This practice violates EU directives on animal welfare ratified also by Romania - Private animal welfare activists all over the world and renowned animal welfare organisations (Four Paws, Tasso, etc.) are protesting and starting/signing petitions - Sufficient proof to support this complaint can be found in international media publications in newspapers, TV and on the internet - The European Commission needs to meet its responsibility and step in immediately, demanding of Romania to adhere to EU law - At the same time the realisation of effective spay and neuter programs should be insisted upon and monitored more closely, with subsidies financed by tax monies being paid out only after the submission of proof of their lawful application PART 4 Q: What do you consider that the EU institution or body has done wrong? A: Currently the European Commission does not come up to its task of ensuring that Romania adhere to existing and ratified EU law on animal welfare. PART 5 Q: What, in your view, should the institution or body do to put things right? A: The Romanian Parliament must be forced to adhere to existing EU directives and laws. The mass-killing of stray dogs must be neither legalised nor tolerated – violations by individuals or organisations/ institutions of any kind must be prosecuted. PART 6 Q: Have you already contacted the EU institution or body concerned in order to obtain redress? > Select “No” PART 7 If the complaint concerns work relationships with the EU institutions and bodies: have you used all the possibilities for internal administrative requests and complaints provided for in the Staff Regulations?
