10 ways to not get sick with colds and flus. Here are my top 10 tips to beat colds and flu’s. 1. Get moving -Preferably morning and night. Even just for a few minutes. Warm that body up – walking, cycling, gym, yoga, running, whatever it is you do to exercise, just do it. This will warm your body up and boost your immune system over time. Stay within your exercise limits! 2. Routine – In conjunction with your exercise – set a daily routine. Your body loves it and needs it day in day out. 3. Sleep – Your daily performance is impacted by your sleep. Aim to get anywhere from 6-9 hours per night. Whatever you do don’t over sleep as it can make you feel hung over and even worse than before. 4. Breathe – Try meditate for 5-20 minutes per day and get a clear head space. Make this part of your daily routine. Breath in, breath out. 5. Food – what you are is what you eat. If you eat shit your will generally feel shit. Eat whole foods that give you long lasting energy. You know what’s healthy, so make a conscious decision to eat well on a daily basis. 6. Stay warm – Keep your body warm, especially your feet, legs and lower back. Your body needs warmth to work easily. Hot water bottles or heat packs are good. A bath isn’t a bad option either! 7. Supplements – It may be worth investing some money in supplements and health rather than paying for it in doctor’s fee’s later on for being sick. Supplements can help speed up recovery from colds and flu’s too. My favorite supplements in the winter months are – olive leaf extract oil, Vitamin D, Vitamin B and a pro biotic. Go to a naturopath for specific help. 8. Drink and eat warm – When you wake up have a hot cup of water with some squeezed lemon juice every morning. Have a hot breakfast. Try things like porridge, Eggs and if you are as weird as me even some steamed vegetables. 9. Rest and have some down time – Some animals hibernate in the winter months. It is too cold outside, so they conserve their energy for the summer when the sun is out. Us human beings need down time. Especially in winter. Make sure you allocate 1 day off a week where you hibernate and just chill. It’s okay your not an animal. 10. Laugh – Having a good old chuckle can be the best medicine. The good thing is it is free. Surround yourself with positive, fun people who bring you up rather than down.
