#24, October 8. Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1978. If you know me, you know that for the most part I hate remakes. There are a handful I do like more than the original like The Fly, Carpenters The Thing, and this version (however, I do LOVE the original versions of The Fly and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Worth a look). The original Thing from 1951 bored me but it has a solid reputation. As for the original Body Snatchers, the entire movie is a tense buildup to that iconic final scene of the survivor shouting at passers-by. It is a great movie but there is something about this retelling that I connected with more. It, like its predecessor, has a chilling final moment, but all of the other details of the movie I dug as well, like how the seeds snatch the humans. The effects are more graphic which many times is unnecessary but here I found it part of the movies charm. If you have a few hours to kill on a rainy day watch both versions. Maybe I can break a rule and say #24 is both versions combined. Is that cheating? youtube/watch?v=52vK2-Dv1TA
