30 years ago to the day. Soviet Union shot down a korean airline 007. The plan was a boeing 747 and was mistaken for a US spy plane. 007 did not have the INS on for the flight amd went off track as it crossed the Pacific Ocean. The sister flight reported tail wind and they were supposed to be 50 miles ahead. 007 had no tailwind but had only headwind and brought a concern of being off track. They crossed the imaginary line created by the soviets not knowing. Right after they noticed headwind they requested a increase in altitude..as they were ascending little did they know a soviet jet was behind them..the sudden increase of altitude procuded a threat to the jet was shot the plane down. Lets remember all those folks family members on that plane. Think about them for a minute as you go through this labor day and think what if..
