AUSTRALIA | NEW SOUTH WALES A MOTHER of nine who consumed almost an entire bottle of Jim Beam before spitting on two police officers will spend the next four months in prison. Delvene Shaneene Marleene Quakawoot, 34, pleaded guilty in the District Court in Mackay to two charges of serious assault of police. Crown prosecutor Matt Hynes said Quakawoot had a history of violent offending dating back to 1995. Defence barrister James Morton said his client had recently started studying the Jehovah Witness faith and was on the road to addressing her drinking problem. Mr Morton said "simply sending" his client to prison would not address the problems behind her offending.
