As a father it is my hope that my children will live in a country free of corruption. In the Philippines where all my children were born is a country full of corrupt practices. These shameful act was and is still instituted by the corrupt politicians and businessmen. Unless these corrupt practices will not be stopped, my children will be in a country surrounded by bleak future, dangerous environment and unsure destiny. They will be in the ship that is slowly but surely sinking. The recent expose of pork barrel scandal was a blessing for my children. The Filipino masses reacted to this daylight robbery with great enthusiasm and determination and I can say that the reforms are coming. First of all let the Filipino masses know that pork barrel is a prize and a promise for every politician to grab once they are elected. This is the main reason why corrupt politicians did not want to leave congress or senate. Senators and congressmen are legislators who are tasked to make laws to protect and promote the interest of the nation. Reality check will tell everyone that the senate and house of representative in the Philippines failed in this very important obligation. The poor get poorer and the rich get richer. These legislators became the agents of poverty. Making the Filipino masses drown in the tidal wave of poverty. Look what these members of congress were saying right now, They also wanted to abolish the pork barrel. This is a shameless act to shield their guilt. Imagine that if this ten billion pesos were directed to eliminate poverty in a country where mendicancy became a tradition. Maybe we will see the light in the tunnel. But wait shall we the Filipino people be misled again. The opportunity right now is knocking in every door of the Filipino people. This is now the most appropriate time to act massively because this congress had failed the Filipino people since this congress was created. The power of the Filipino masses shall dictate this present time. It should be demanded that electoral reforms be instituted by the new congress. The new congress shall be called through a recall election where every candidate will not be allowed to spend any cent just to be elected. The rationale behind this is the reality that those who spend a lot of money during election has a temptation to be corrupt official. Election at this time should be based on honesty and dedication for the purpose of saving this sinking ship. It was unfortunate that an ilonggo senator Franklin Drilon hinted to might as well abolish the congress. He showed his true personality that he really benefited on pork barrel. It is time now for the powerful Filipino masses to dictate their future not for present representatives to maintain the poverty in the Philippines. Only through this that we can save the sinking ship and I can save the good future of my beloved children.
