Boko Haram suspect arrested in Sokoto, arms recovered Men of the 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army and men of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) Sokoto State Command yesterday said they have arrested a suspected insurgent, Mallam Mubarak A.K.A Dan Hajiya. Briefing journalists yesterday, Public Relations Officer, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Musa Yahaya said the exercise was part of the series of raids carried out in the past five days. “Yesterday (Sunday) at about 2030 hrs that is precisely 8:30pm, troops of 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and personnel of the State Security Service, Sokoto State Command raided the house of one Mallam Mubarak A.K.A Dan Hajıya, a suspected Boko Haram member at Nakasari area of Sokoto South Local Government Area of the state,” he said. Captain Yahaya said during the raid, a number of items were recovered, including three AK 47 riffles, one riot gun and four magazines. Others items recovered according to him are; Six-four liter explosives, prime explosive cylinders, 27 small primed cans of explosives and three cartons of acid. “We also recovered four connected remote controls, six-nine voltage batteries, bunch of detonator cables, four containers of chemicals, 14 knockouts, four measuring beaker, eight motorcycle alarm speakers, 10 super glues, 12 empty soft drink cans, two scissors, over 50 biros cut in pieces, two thermometers, two handsets, one packet of straws,1 packet of matches , four plugs and 1 theater pıcker,” he said. The Brigade spokesman said many arrests have been made so far but no one has been killed, saying investigations were still on-going.
