Chris Mendez, Victor Drew Jimenez What unbelievable game by two incredible young teams, the Thunder and the Warriors, Golden States record improve to 6-3 and while Oklahoma Citys record falls to 5-3. Thunder PG Russell Westbrook made the clutch 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left, putting Oklahoma City up by one single-point 115-114, but then newly acquired SF Andre Iguodala, who is not known to be a jump shooter, makes the turnaround fadeaway game-winning jumper at the buzzer, to give Golden State the 116-115 victory. Despite Golden State making fourteen 3-pointers in the game, it took a two-point jump shot to win the game at the buzzer, by a player who is not known for jump shooting. Andre Iguodala only had one made field goal in the fourth quarter, and it was the game-winning bucket at the buzzer. Iguodala is not a great jumper, but he is certainly a great passer, getting 7 of his 9 assists in the 1st half, getting his teammates involved, make the unselfish play and making the extra passes to wide-open shooters or making a pass into the paint. Iguodala stepped up offensively in the 2nd half, scoring 9 of his 14 points, but it was his final two points that mattered the most right at the end. Iguodala has always been known for his defensive efforts on guarding the opponents best player. Well Iguodala did a great job in defending Kevin Durant, despite Durant nearing a triple-double with his 20 points, 8 assists and 7 boards. He was still held to just five made field goals for the entire game, he did make 8-9 from the free-throw line, but if he doesnt have his 8 made free-throws, he would have only scored 12 points. Durant definitely struggled to score offensively because of Iguodalas defensive presence. Iguodala scored 14 points while shooting 5-6 from the field, 9 assists, 2-2 from 3-point land and 2-2 from the free-throw line. Westbrook caught fire early, scoring wise, getting 11 of his 31 points in 1st quarter, scoring in a variety of ways, making his pull-up jumpers, a 3-point bucket, and a couple of buckets in the paint. He also created of his teammates, getting 3 of his 5 assists as well in the 1st quarter. He had a quiet 2nd period, scoring one free-throw and and knocking down a pull-up jumper and gets in the paint to score lay-up bucket. Then the 2nd half, is when he caught fire once again, scoring 15 of his 31 points, and making the biggest shot of his career and possibly give the Thunder a comeback victory. Westbrook was unstoppable in 3rd period, scoring 11 of his 15 2nd half points. He buried multiple pull-up jumpers to keep the Thunder in the game against that high-scoring offense Golden State has. In the fourth quarter, the Thunder climbed back and got themselves back into the game, and then with seconds winding down in the final moments of the game, PG Russell Westbrook buries a clutch 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left to go, giving the Thunder a one-point lead. Russell Westbrook, has clearly proven his back, scoring 31 points, even though the Thunder lost the game, Oklahoma City has to feel really good about there starting point guard, playing like his old self. Westbrook finishes the game with 31 points while shooting 13-20 from the field, along with 3 steals, 5 assists, 9 boards, 2-5 from 3-point land and 3-5 from the free-throw line. It wasnt just Westbrook or Iguodala who had a great impact and changed the outcome of the game. Warriors SG Klay Thompson continues to prove why is one of the best 3-pointers in the league, scoring 14 of his 27 points in the 1st half, scored 9 of his 14 first half points in the 1st quarter. Thompson knocked down four of his six made 3-pointers in the 1st half to get this high-scoring affair started. Like Ibaka, Thompson scored seven 4th-quarter points, that helped Golden State maintained there lead. Thunder PF Serge Ibaka, who is known more for his defensive block shots, has all of sudden become the third option, for the Thunder scoring wise. Ibaka scored 14 of his career-high 27 points in the 1st half, but it was his seven 4th-quarter points, that helped Oklahoma City get back into the game, after being down by double-digits nearly the whole final period. Warriors PG Stephen Curry, definitely made his impacted known early in the game, knocking his first two 3-pointers of the game, scoring 6 points, but he did also make two great passes to a wide-open Andrew Bogut for the slam dunk and a wide-open Thompson for the triple. He scored 12 of his 22 points in the 1st half and like Iguodala, Curry was unselfish, making the extra pass, and getting 6 of his 9 assists as well in the 1st half. It was Iguodalas and Currys passing that allowed Golden State, to make so many buckets in the 1st half. Curry caught fire and exploded in the 3rd quarter, scoring 10 of his 22 points. He was attacking the basket, getting lay-ups and buried his last 3-point shot that always excites the crowd. Starting PF David Lee had 20 points, 3 assists and grabbed 4 boards. SF Harrison Barnes off the bench, scored 16 points and grabbed 3 broads. Thunder PG Reggie Jackson had 12 points, and scored 10 of his 12 points in the 4th quarter, to help the Thunder make a strong comeback and get back into the game. So many players step up, it was only fitting that it would take a game-winning bucket at the last second to end this incredible, phenomenal game. My web info sports sources comes from NBA and ESPN
