Confirmed: A British nurse who is currently being treated for Ebola is now in critical condition after her health deteriorated drastically over the last two days, the Royal Free Hospital in London stated today. The Nurse who contracted the deadly pathogen while on duty in Sierra Leone has been identified as 39-year-old Pauline Cafferkey. On Wednesday, the hospital said Cafferkey decided to have blood plasma treatment, which used blood from survivors of the Ebola virus, and she would also take an experimental antiviral drug. Yesterday the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported that the Ebola outbreak had climbed to 7,989 as of December 31, 2014.
