Dance Battle- Kai, featuring Tao “Why don’t you go try the dance machine? Remember from when we were kids?” suggested your friend. You smiled as you thought back to all the great memories your friends and you had whenever you came to the local arcade. Today, you decided to visit your friend at her work, a job as a ticket lady at the prize counter. ”Wanna play with me, like old times?” you laughed. She groaned, shaking her head. “I really wish I could, but I have to deal with all these rug rats” she complained. You laughed, but nodded in agreement. Your eyes scanned through the pier, seeing everyone going at the games. Your eyes drifted over the dance machine; it was abandoned. ”Looks like i’ll be playing alone.” You walked over to the machine and stepped on the player ones side. You reached into your back pocket, taking out two tokens and inserting them into the slots. The game powered up and the screen turned into a song selection. You smiled and pressed your hand down on the arrows, watching all the songs go by. "Bingo." You pressed on the enter button and watched as it flicked into the dance position. A multicolored girl stood on the screen, her hands by her side as the music began to play and the arrows began to descend downwards. Your right leg came down on the up arrow. You were doing so good, until the song began to increase its pace. Your legs went from crisscrossing to slamming themselves down on the opposite arrow. Unlike most people who only used their feet you were one to move with the beat. Your upper torso also following the movements she made. Many people stopped to watch you in awe as you owned the song. Your right leg stepped on the down arrow as the song ended. The few people who gathered around you clapped their hands, making you snap out of your dancing trance. You gave a sheepish smile as you noticed the people surrounding you. ”Mind if I join?” called out a voice. Your head snapped back so fast you could have sworn you got whiplash. An asian stood in the crowd, a playful smile on his face as his hands were shoved into his pockets. He was standing still as he awaited your response. Thinking over it, and noticing that you finally had someone to challenge, you nodded your head and shoved two more tokens in. He walked up to the one beside you, inserting two coins of his own. The both of you instantaneously clicked on the multiplayer button. The screen changed so you shared the same one. ”I’ll choose the song” you announced. You flicked through the list in search of a song with lots of beat and a fast pace. A secret smile passed through your face when you saw a familiar song. You clicked the enter button and the beat to Dynamite began to play swiftly through the speakers. You took one glance at him, seeing him standing still with absolutely no pressure. In his mind he was sure that he was going to win. He had seen your moves and classified you as an experienced dancer, but not that experienced to have him beat. Luckily for you this was a song that used to be on replay whenever you danced. Colored arrows began to descend down into the white outline; your feet coming down at the exact moment. You moved your arms upward as your body did the talking. With every move you made he seemed to be doing so much better. More people continued to walk up to the scene, smiling when they noticed how cute the two of you looked. He sneaked a glance at you through the corner of his eye, smiling when he saw how deep in thought you were. He found it cute when your nose scrunched up whenever you thought you had missed a beat. Vibrant laughter rumbled through his body. “Damn didn’t know you had this much skill” he complimented. "Trying to butter me up, are you?" you smirked. "Is it working?" he chuckled. "We’ll know at the end now won’t we" you playfully responded. You smiled in triumphant when the song ended and the machine announced the winner. "A tie" he pointed out. "It appears so" whatever you had left to say was drowned out by the cheering and clapping off the onlookers. "Ready for another?" he asked, two tokens raised up between his index finger and thumb. "You’re on!" - You didn’t notice your friend leaning against the counter, a figure pressing her to his side. "How did you know that Kai would even approach her? He doesn’t really like dancing outside of EXO" asked an anonymous voice. "Isn’t it obvious Tao? He wants a challenge" Thank you for reading admin kuieng
