Do you know what helps you make bread. Well you should. Yeast. Yeast is a fungus. Which means its alive and it eats. While they are in their packets they are persevered and when you put them in water they come back to life. What ingredient do you think yeast eats? A: cooking oil B: salt C: flour D: sugar E: 1 cookie This is a science experiment that the 3 grade 6 classes in All Hallows Elementary did today. If you want to do it heres what youll need; 5 grams of oil, 5 grams of salt,5 grams of flour, 5 grams of sugar, 6 packets of yeast, 6 big ziplock bags, 1 Oreo cookie, water, 6 cups and a scale. Step #1: weigh the cookie to see how much of the other ingredients youll need(PS it weighs 5.1 grams!!). Pour them each into one big ziplock bag. Youll have one bag lest over. In that one youll just put half a cup of water and the packet of yeast(PS in the 6 cups youll need it half way- filled with water and one yeast packet in it DO NOT MIX THE YEAST WITH THE WATER JUST LET IT SETTLE) Step #2: pour one cup of water (with the yeast in it) into the bag with the ingredient(s). Step #3: lay bag on flat surface (PS DO NOT TOUCK OR YOU WILL RUIN THE EXPERIMENT) Step #4: wait 1 1/2 - 2 hours then look at each bag. The one that has the most bubbles is the one the the yeast likes the most!! Please make an educated guess before trying the experiment!! Have fun!!!
