Due to the Hsuehshan Tunnel being the fifth longest one in the world connecting Taipei and Yilan, Hualien also becomes closer to people living in western Taiwan. There are more and more tourists visiting Hualien and Taroko Gorge every year. For now, you can see an international hotel being built in the downtown of Hualien City. However, we hope the government can still preserve the trace of the past when the new facilities are growing.
