EXPOSURE: Cont from yesterday: Gal. 5:16-21 lists 17 things that are the works of the flesh and those that do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ( Please read whole chapter) But I only want to discuss two of those 17, idolatry and witchcraft because these two things are so closely related and so popular in this day and time. What is idolatry? It is anything that u put your faith,trust or rely on for guidance other than God. Good luck charms is one example. Some people commit idolatry by putting their faith in or worshiping the cross more than the one that died on it. Some worship a statue that is suppose to be Jesus more than they do Jesus. Idolatry is also anything u put before The Lord, such as the TV. Col.3:5 states that covetousness is idolatry. Websters defines covetous as having an inordinate desire for wealth, or possessions, for anothers possessions (or of power). What is witchcraft? When this word is mentioned we imagine an ugly old lady dressed in black riding a broom through the sky. This is not the case, there many things that come under the title of witchcraft.The Word of God lists so much on this subject there is no way that I can post it all. Here is a few: necromancer, sorcerer, wizard, soothsayer, divination, astrology, enchanter, charmer and observer of times, the bible tells us that these and more are an abomination to The Lord. Some of these come under more modern names such as psychic, medium, fortune teller, and astrologist are a few. Many of these people are deceived thinking their information is coming from God, but these things are imitations of the things of God. The Bible also speaks of familiar spirits in many places, these are generational spirits that has been in each our families for years , they know everything about you and your family, your past, they watched u so closely that they can read your expressions. They are demonic and through them is where all the psychics ,etc get their information. They can not read your mind, only God can do that. When they predict future events the only way they can come true is by demonic spirits influence on others. The bible warns in many areas to stay away from these spirits and anyone that deals with them. The Bible gives us many examples but the best one is in I Sam. 28:7-25 where Saul seeks out the Witch of Endor to call up the familiar spirit of Samuel. ( lev.19:31 ; 20: 6,27/ Deu. 18:11) Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft I Sam.15:23. The enemy has used false prophets and all those things listed above to distort and destroy the gifts of God therefore weakening the body of Christ. The media is making all these things look so good and innocent, many of Gods people are being deceived by this because of lack of knowledge. II Cor. 6:14 tells us not to be yoked together with unbelievers, darkness, people please stay from this stuff and all the paranormal trash on TV. (Acts 8:9/13:6-12/ Rev.21:8 / Is.19:3/29:4 / Ex. 7:10-13)
