Form separate land commission for ethnic communities: Menon Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon yesterday called for a separate land commission to resolve the land issues of the ethnic groups living in the plain lands of the country. The minister made the comment while addressing a programme organised by Bangladesh Adivasi Forum to celebrate the World Indigenous Day at the Central Shahid Minar in the capital. “The ethnic groups living in the plain lands of the country have been facing frequent oppression these days. Many of them were killed in Dinajpur and assaulted in Chapainawabganj. We have tried to stand beside them,” Menon said, adding, “The demand for a separate land commission for them, which was raised in parliament, should be implemented. It is our national duty to set it up and resolve their land-related crises.” The minister said the bond of good relationship between the Bangalees and the ethnic groups is being strengthened gradually to establish the rights of the latter.
