From Donna: Sometimes I feel sad for the kids of today, Those kids who have play dates instead of can Joey came over now? Kids who have every minute filled with soccer, dance class, etc etc and never have time just to be. When will they learn that it is OK just to sit in the grass and watch ants? Or climb a tree and just hang out ( pun intended). Or ride their bikes or ponies until they know the freedom of moving? How will they learn that life is not a video game? How will they be in touch with nature- earth, if they dont have an opportunity to get as dirty as they like by playing in the mud or digging holes or pushing toy trucks around? How will they learn compassion and responsibility if their pets are kenneled and walked just once a day? Im sorry that they cannot run to the corner store for an ice cream or candy bar- that they cant put cards in their spokes and ride up and down the streets- that they cant live a life unresticted by fear of who might be out there to hurt them. Im so glad that I had the opportunity to ride my horse from dawn til dark without being afraid. Ive been alone but Ive never been lonesome. I learned to enjoy being with me. I hope the children of today have that experience, too
