Good evening, UK Evening Forecast – 28th May Synoptic situation: High pressure is centred over the north of Scandinavia and is slow-moving. Meanwhile low pressure dominants over much of central mainland Europe with a small cut-off low over southeast England whilst associated weather fronts continue to affect many parts of the UK. Tonight’s outlook: This evening will be cloudy and wet across much of the east coast of England from around the Humber northwards with this rain also extending up into southern and eastern Scotland. Elsewhere there is a lot of cloud around with some light rain or drizzle The best of the evening sunny spells can be found across the the Northern Isles, the Western Isles, parts of western Scotland, western parts of Northern Ireland and across the south-western tip of Cornwall. Tonight sees the rain in the east spreading further west across central and southern parts of Scotland and into parts of Northern Ireland whilst further spells of rain will affect much of northern England, particularly the northeast and the Isle of Man. For much of central and southern England including the Channel Islands and Isle of Wight, southwest England, the Midlands, East Anglia and Wales it will be a mostly cloudy night with occasional mainly light showers, but the odd heavier one may affect southern and south-western England later in the night. It will become increasingly misty and murky with some fog patches forming in places, especially over higher ground. Meanwhile across northern and eastern Scotland it will become mainly dry with some clearer spells developing later in the night, but misty low cloud will feed onto eastern coasts. For much of the country moderate east/north-easterly winds are expected, but winds will be more north-westerly in direction across southern England and light and variable across southeast England. Temperatures across the country will drop down to minimums of 9°C to 11°C, but one or two spots in the clearer northeast will drop back down to 7°C or 8°C. Tomorrow’s summary: Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing slowly south-westwards across England, Wales and Northern Ireland but heavy showers developing across southern England during the afternoon.
