Hi! Just wanted to check in as Ive been away from the page all day! We are having the most beautiful Indian Summer here in Minnesota! I am enjoying it SO much as I really do not like cold weather at all! Its unbelievable to have such warm weather mid-October. It was 72 today! I really needed to get to the yoga studio this afternoon as its been a week since I attended class but really wanted to take advantage of this gorgeous weather. So thats just what Jonah and I did! I have good news to share that we thoroughly enjoyed the warmth and beautiful autumnal display of trees but some not so good news too... The picture Ive included is a park that Jonah likes to walk to (the pet store is in this vicinity which is why he likes it...). Well on the way to this beautiful park there was a man in his front yard with his dog. I realized quickly that the dog was not on a leash so we stopped walking. The dog started bolting at us. As quickly as I could, I put my phone in the tiny purse I use for walks and picked up Jonah. Over the next few minutes I was screaming out for the owner to get his dog as it kept jumping up at my back. I kept turning my body to protect Jonah and his sweet dangling legs. It was terrifying for me and Jonah. And it was a Pit Bull. While I know they can be sensitive sweet dogs, I am also not at all acquainted with this man or his dog to know the level of danger we were in. The man finally caught his dog by the collar and very rudely said sorry, not really apologetic at all. Meanwhile, my body had gone into fight/flight mode and my heart was racing for at least the next 15 minutes. As if that wasnt bad enough! By the time I got to the next block away from this guys house, I realized my phone was not in my bag! It had fallen out as I tried to protect us from the dog. I ran back to the block we were on and amidst all the fallen leaves in the street, could not find it anywhere!!! Finally I spotted it -- lying in the center of the very busy street! I am so thankful that both Jonah and my phone were okay. It was an upsetting situation but we loved our time at the park and I found the most serene place to sit where I prayed for the longest time (Jonah got a little impatient...) while ducks and geese called out all around us as they played in the pond and flew overhead. Perfect blood sugars the rest of the day too! ps. The situation was all the more frightening as my childhood dog almost lost her life this exact same way when I was 19 and a dog ran out from his front yard and attacked Gretchen. With deep puncture wounds to her jugular vein, she almost died and I learned never to trust unleashed dogs that approach like this... I wish dog owners would be more responsible!
