Hi everyone, This Sunday (3-16-14) the Simply Single lifegroup - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone, This Sunday (3-16-14) the Simply Single lifegroup at CBC will be starting a brand new 10-part Bible study entitled “Living On The Edge: Becoming A Romans 12 Christian” by Chip Ingram. The title of session #1 for this Sunday is “God’s Dream For Your Life.” Every parent has a dream for their child, and that dream generally has more to do with the kind of people they become rather than what they do with their lives. As such, our kids can either be a source of great joy or immeasurable pain, depending on the outcome. It is the same for our heavenly Father. Our heavenly father has a dream for all of His children as well. Ultimately, God’s dream for each of his children is to develop their character in order to make them more like Jesus. The bottom line is that it’s more important to God what you become rather than what you do. Much of the church today has the image of Christianity. But there isn’t much substance or depth. A true and authentic Christ-follower is not defined by religious activity or rules that are followed. It is about who you are when no one else is looking. It’s not how you act when they are. Simply put, God’s dream is that Christians would actually “live” like Christians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Romans 12 provides a good summary of what an authentic Christ-follower is. It talks about our relationship with God – surrendered to God. It talks about our relationship with the world’s values – separated from the world. It talks about our relationship with our self – sober in self-assessment. It talks about our relationship with other believers – serving in love. It talks about our relationship to unbelievers – supernaturally responding to evil with good. Come join the Simply Single lifegroup at CBC this Sunday at 9:00am in room P-4 as we kick off this great new series and explore in-depth just exactly what it means to be a true and authentic Christ-follower. Have a wonderful rest of the week and I hope to see you all in class this Sunday. Blessings, Tom
