Ive always been fascinated with the 1920s immigration/the great gastby/prohibition era of NYC. The Immigrant presents that period of the history from the entrance through Ellis Island to the life on the Lower East Side. The apt in the movie looks straight out of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, a historical museum that shows actual apartments in which people used to live over 100+ years ago! If you are also interested in that part of the history in NYC, I highly recommend the movie + the museum. :)
