Just a little something I found fascinating... This is a depiction of captured ancient Jews who lived in a fortified city of Israel known as Lachish. Lachish was invaded by the Assyrians, a powerful ancient kingdom, and its jewish inhabitants were taken captive as prisoners of war. You can read about it in 2 Kings 18. We also owe the Assyrians a debt of gratitude for being excellent scholars and recorders of their own history and achievements, via art work. Because they recorded this event too in these reliefs. Notice the texture of the hair, and the clear facial features: not only of the captured Jews, but also of the Assyrian invaders. This is part of some personal research Ive been conducting. And the conclusion is simple: there were always more than one group of black people who lived in the world. Many times we are left with the impression that all black people are the same. We are not. Abraham, the father of the Hebrews and the jewish faith, was in fact a dark-skinned black man, who was of a different family group than the dark-skinned black people who inhabited most of the other parts of Africa. Not all black folks are the same! Abraham was from a place called Ur of the Chaldees, in the same geographical region as the Assyrians. They too were dark-skinned black folks. But not necessarily the same as the black folks who inhabited other parts of Africa at that time. To classify everyone in the world as black who have Negro features is the same as classifying everyone as Chinese or Asian who have slanted eyes. Asians come in many different ethnic forms. And so do black people. I say that to drive home the point that the original Hebrews were just as black as any African walking around in Africa, America, Europe, Asia or the Caribbean today. Which means the original Jews of antiquity were black skinned people who looked just like us. But they werent necessarily the same as the other black folks who were already living in Egypt and other parts of Africa. They were a different ethnic group of black people. But still black in skin color nonetheless. The evidence for this is overwhelming. But you dont have to take my word for it. Here are some conclusions made by an 18th century British archaeologist named Godfrey Higgins. While I dont necessarily agree with all of his findings, these I thought were very interesting: *All the gods and goddesses of Greece were black: from Jupiter, Bacchus, Hercules, Apollo, Ammon. The Goddesses Venus, Isis, Hecati, Diana, Juno, Metis, Ceres, Cybile; they are ALL black. *All the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt were black *In his voluminous work Anacalypsis he states that the Jews of Jacob or Israel were Ethiopians. Ethiopian was the term used to describe anyone of black African ethnic features. Let that one really sink in for a moment. *In Anacalypsis he states that the Jews of Asia minor were a tribe and colony of black Buddhists from India. *He states that all of the Gods from the ancient world, including the saviors, were black. I find his research interesting because, at a time when European scholarly racism was widespread, this man courageously went where the evidence took him; even at the risk of ridicule and scorn from his contemporaries. Have you ever wondered why black folks took to Christianity so easily? We seemed almost predisposed to it in many ways. You ever wonder how we knew to sing songs about crossing the Jordan River, a river from the land of Israel, even though as slaves we werent allowed to read the bible? Who told us about slaves being delivered from Egypt then? Certainly not the white slave masters who tried to use the bible to reinforce slavery in the minds of the enslaved. It seems many of us came to America with that knowledge already in tact. One last thing: did you know that most slaves who made it to the Americas were from the Igbo tribe of West Africa? Its been estimated that as many as 60% of black Americans have an Igbo ancestor in their bloodline. Igbos today live mostly in southern Nigeria, and are one of the largest black ethnic groups in Africa. Now heres where things get interesting: Igbo, also called Ibo, sounds linguistically a lot like the term Hebrew. And were in fact referred to as Heeboes by earlier European slave sellers. We know that historically speaking the 12 tribes of Israel...the original biblical Hebrew Jews, went missing after Babylon and later the Romans invaded Israel and scattered the people all over the world. Many have turned up in places like India and other parts of the world. Do your research on the Cochin Jews of India, also known as Indias black jews; and check out a documentary on the Lemba people of Southern Africa. Like I said: fascinating stuff. Just thought Id share.
