From north, south, east and west Brothers, sisters don their vest They come from far By bike or cage Most up in age To honor the sacrifice, courage and hero Of those who fought against all evil They stand tall, silent, and in respect Some think back in reflect To times that call the best of all Some stumble and some did fall Type of service does not matter WWII, Korea, Nam, of more recent Ones is of no matter. Of natural causes or heat of battle It’s the service that matters Kick stands up, Brother down! Their stands encircle to give support To the mourning family They report – no need to thank us, we are honored by your invitation, our privilege it is to give support At long last when guns are fired Taps is once again on air The flag that covered the hero’s bed Neatly folded and properly given The hero has been to hell now surely resides in heaven All one knows is Kick stands up, Brother down!
