Lasha, your name means, anointed of God. 17 years ago you were born and I held you in my arms. Your bright eyes looked at me intently. You would soon show that you were no ordinary CHILD. Gently tapping me with your fits as you lay beside me during your first weeks – I was sad and I didn’t know why – you kept nudging me as if to say, “Hey, I’m here Mommy, no need to be sad.” I heard the Holy Spirit through your gesture and stirred myself. THIS CHILD IS SOMEONE SPECIAL. You were funny and you still are. Before you could make a full sentence you laughed at us when we told you to “Stop! Laylay!” Making spit bubbles with your lips you repeated back with a hearty laugh, “Stooopppp!” At 2 ½ you tied your shoes. Sitting there with lace in hands… “Over the bridge and under the bridge.” You’ll get it… and you didn’t stop trying until you did. Big GIRL! Yeah you did it! YOUNG LADY. In the midst of a generation that is running from God. You stand firm for what you believe and have faith for the future. Running…jumping…shooting for the stars…the moon is your stepping stone for all that you will accomplish.
