Late change in physics syllabus jolts CBSE students: Central - TopicsExpress

Late change in physics syllabus jolts CBSE students: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decision to introduce new topics in physics for class XII, a couple of months ahead of exams, has come as a shock to teachers and students alike. The problem has been compounded by the fact that newly-introduced chapters on communication system are not available even in National Council For Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books prescribed by the board. Though the board has made these additional sub-topics of theory paper available online, teachers feel that last-minute addition to syllabus would hamper students preparations for the board exams scheduled to start in a few months. They said that text of new topics would be hard to obtain for students who have no access to laptops or computers at their residence. teachers are supposed to teach topics, including Internet, mobile telephony and global positioning system, to students under the chapter on communication systems. The syllabus itself is 13-page long. Given the length of the syllabus, it will be cumbersome for students as they are already in the process of revising science subjects for board exams. Board should have refrained from last minute updates in syllabus as it serves no purpose.
