North Lawndale has made it into the Library finals. Unfortunately, - TopicsExpress

North Lawndale has made it into the Library finals. Unfortunately, we are up against some pretty stiff competition, including Mayor Emanuel, who appears to want it on the Southside. Fortunately, this crossroads in our community is happening right in the middle of an aldermanic campaign. And we have 14 candidates, all with armies of volunteers. The Library is not a political issue. It’s an issue that affects the very nature of our community. In the last campaign, crazy things were said and done in political races all over the country; but not in the 24th Ward. I wrote a letter to the editor of the Sun Times, commending the mutual respect that our candidates showed each other and the voters. That small letter was printed. Imagine the press North Lawndale could get if all of our candidates publicly declared their unified support for our Library bid. If not unified, then individual public declarations of support will do. North Lawndale is not afraid to stand up against the Mayors wishes. Im sure our candidates arent either. Here is the list of the current candidates for Alderman, as listed by the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners: MICHAEL D. CHANDLER FRANK M. BASS REGINA D. LEWIS WALLACE E. MICKEY JOHNSON SHERITA ANN HARRIS ROGER L. WASHINGTON VERNELL L. HOLLIS-SWANIGAN VETRESS BOYCE DENARVIS MENDENHALL LADARIUS R. CURTIS MARCUS D. THORNE MICHAEL SCOTT, JR. LARRY G.
