One thing Ive been wondering is if Griffith has a bigger goal or ambition than just being a member of the Godhand reincarnated in the material realm to reign over humans. His being reincarnated actually shows hes got a bit more ambition than the other members who seem content at wondering around in the deep layers of the astral world until time to answer the call of a Behelit. When I think back to the Lost Chapter of Berserk, which introduced the Idea of Evil, I realized how much power an idea has over people. In the case of humans so perplexed with the idea of evil in the Berserkverse, it actually was so potent and prevalent in their minds that it became a living entity. Now, knowing how cunning Griffith is, Im starting to wonder if being reincarnated after achieving demigod-hood was just the door opening to a larger goal for Griffith: replacing the Idea of Evil with hope (or Hope, if his being heralded as the salvation of humanity garners more devotion than the current God of the Berserkverse). It would be truly interesting if Miura turns Griffith into a more gray antagonist trying to achieve something so lofty that it requires such machinations as sacrificing all and pulling the wool over all the blind sheeps and even the wolves eyes to accomplish. To actually be given the power and army of demons by the very entity that you are trying to replace would be epic to say the least. In the end, Guts may actually end up helping Griffith, even if not directly. Id actually like an ending like this more than just Griffith gets defeated by the powers of magic and elves and benevolent spirits helping Guts overthrow his dynasty. That would be too simplistic and Star Wars-like, where everything is just good versus evil. Unfortunately, at three to six chapters a year, Id accept almost any ending Miura muddles through...
