Sent on behalf of President Raymond E. Ivany The Acadia University community was saddened to learn earlier today of the death of Robert “Bob” Stead (Class of 1963), Mayor Emeritus of the Town of Wolfville, and Acadia retiree. Over his 27-year career with Acadia, Bob became the face of the Admissions Office, epitomizing the ‘personal touch’ that is an Acadia trademark. He was exceptionally well-liked and well-respected by colleagues and students alike. Well-known for his visionary leadership and commitment to community, Bob leaves behind a shining example of a life both fully and well-lived. Prior to his retirement from Acadia, Bob was elected to Wolfville’s Town Council, a foray into municipal governance that would ultimately become his second career and would last for 24 years. He was elected Mayor in 1997, a position he held until October of 2012. Upon his retirement from municipal government, Bob redirected his time and considerable abilities to the L’Arche Homefires Society serving as Co-Chair of their “Building Our Dream” Capital Campaign. Our thoughts are with Bob’s partner Danny Chandler, his sisters, and his many friends and family members who will keenly feel his loss. We express to them our deepest condolences. A service will take place on Tuesday, January 21 at 2 p.m. in Acadia Universitys Convocation Hall under the leadership of University Chaplain The Reverend Timothy McFarland. Sincerely, Ray
