Spectacular Sunday yesterday. I started the day with a visit of Pastor Glenn Reynolds and the congregation of Bethel Church, Hampton, Virginia. What a church. Multi-ethnic, anointed, full of life and motivated by Gods vision for the world. Bethel Church is now a key member of the Urban Islands Project support team. They also added about 100 new members to the Urban Islands Project prayer team. Our prayer team is easy to join- simply Like the Urban Islands Project Facebook page. My day ended with a visit with Bryan Briggs and the excellent folks at Destination Church in the southwest suburbs of Richmond, Virginia. This is an amazing young church plant that is a great friend of Urban Islands Project. After visiting with both churches, I was encouraged because they are both very healthy. Both are committed to multiplication. Both are multi-ethnic in leadership and congregation. Both are connecting well with people who are far from God and both are growing significantly. We are so grateful for the growing Urban Islands Project support team. This is definitely a team sport. Cities are too big for anyone or even any one organization to imagine that they are going to take a city or transform a city. The Urban Islands Project strategy is built around the idea that we stand on a corner and decide to love an urban neighborhood. We may actually see cities transformed by Gods power one neighborhood at a time. Pray. Give. Go.
