This is heart-wrenching. Shes a model. Perhaps she went home late from that shoot. Models and people in similar profession (or interest) are very vulnerable to this kind of attacks. An advice from a nobody, girls & ladies be wary about how you look when having to commute especially at night. Always bring extra proper clothes and do away with revealing outfits when you have to traverse the ghettos. The theaters, hotels, malls and similar venues are far different when it comes to peoples perception or outlook. As much as possible never commute alone especially at night. It doesnt matter if you knew every single habal-habal or tricycle driver in your area. Some people just cant rationalize when confronted with an opportunity. You have a cellphone. It wont take much time to call or text (making sure your companion notices) someone at home where you are to indicate any identification of the vehicle youre on. You can even make a fake call and make it loud enough to let would-be attacker(s) know someone is informed of your whereabouts. Arm yourself. A cellphone could be hard enough to knock attackers. A ball pen could cause excruciating pain as a weapon. Your bottled perfume/cologne is also a painful deterrent when spayed on eyes. Shout. Get other people to notice if you are being attacked. Use your head. Be very aware of your situation. Stop fiddling with your cellphone when commuting or walking through a lonely pathway. To fellow photographers and event organizers. The safety of our models and crew are also our responsibility. Our obligation to them doesnt end after the last shutter. At least make sure that everyone is sent home safely or their parents/guardians know theyve been dismissed and out of your responsibility. At best give them a lift home as much as possible.
