This isnt a big deal and Im not upset at all. But I do think its funny. I bought bite size shredded wheat at Trader Joes and it literally (as in the old sense, not figuratively) had the flavor of fish. It was really off. The kids tried it without me saying anything and spit it out. I wrote a nice letter to TJs to let them know, not wanting a refund, just to advise them. They sent me to the manufacturer and weeks later they sent me this: The production and quality assurance teams at the manufacturing plant, which produced this item, have reviewed the recent issue you experienced with Trader Joes Shredded Wheat cereal. Our organization is very focused on providing consumers, like you, the best possible combination of quality and value, and we take incidents like yours very seriously. We reviewed the same retainer sample, as the code date given, as well as several other retained samples, and we found the samples to exhibit a flavor that is typical of this product. During the production of this product and prior to packaging, we perform many tests to ensure the product meets all specification requirements, which includes a sensory taste test. Our records indicate this product was acceptable and ran within specification. We apologize to you for this incident and have informed the Plant Superintendent of this complaint. Our products are manufactured in the United States under strict quality control standards, and we are thankful we have the opportunity to provide them to consumers, like you. We very much appreciate your purchase of the product, and hope we can regain your trust in the future. Its an ok letter but what does it even say? We acknowledge your problem but it isnt a problem but were telling our supervisors anyway and we want you to try again, despite the fact that it should smell and taste like fish. I wrote them and asked what other products they made for Trader Joes so I can avoid them if they think this is a good flavor.
