Today was such an awesome day with Marlis! After she got rid of the breathing tube she was immediately able to talk to us and her sense of humor is intact. I asked her if she would like me to call a few family members and close friends and she instantly rattled off phone numbers! We made a few calls and she was even able to visit briefly with some. At that point she was pretty tired out so we left her room awhile to let her rest. Marlis told her nurse that she would like to start January 2015 all over, and she made sure that she corrected me when I mistakenly assumed that Chief was one of her pets. We were amazed how much she knew and remembered. She wants to let everyone know how much she appreciates you; she also wants her cell phone -- thinks the charger may be in her pickup -- and she wants to get her things gathered up and go home. Thats our girl!! She has not lost her spirit or determination. At one point she wanted to know what day it was because she had work on Saturday. Connie and I were humbled by her; after everything shes been through she is still giving her all! It was a big day for her and she was ready for more rest when we left at 2:30. We left a notebook on her window sill, so if you visit you are welcome to write in your name and date and a note -- Marlis might enjoy looking at these later. Sorry Melva & Cheryl I did not see your posts until after I got home so did not share them with Marlis -- my phone was going nuts with all the likes and comments from all of you and she loves you all. Thanks!
