UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance. For its local team, UNRWA is seeking to employ a qualified: Draftsperson / Shelter Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Project in Jerash Camp Vacancy Announcement Number LDC/12/2014 Contract Status Limited Duration Contract (LDC) Contract Duration Six Months Duration (extendable) Grade LDC Benefits This Limited Duration Contract (LDC) is for 6 months. Monthly basic salary JD 649.2 fils, (Band D/S1). Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable). Department Field Infrastructure & Camp Improvement Program Duty Station Jerash Camp Issue Date 20 July 2014 Deadline for Applications 2 August 2014 Background UNRWA intends to conduct a large shelter rehabilitation project (at least 80 shelters) in Jerash camp with funding from the European Commission. A draftsperson (the incumbent) based at Jerash camp is required. Place in the Organisation The incumbent of this post reports to project manager (PM). The incumbent will work closely with a team comprised of site engineers, urban planners, architects, structural engineers, social workers, rain water harvesting consultant and self-help specialist consultant, etc. Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Produces architectural, civil and electromechanical CAD work drawings for designed buildings in the project. • Assists Design team in preparation of tender and construction drawings • Assists Urban Planner in verifying and checking CAD drawings submitted by contractors to bring it to standard formats. • Prepares and delivers as built CAD drawings for the targeted shelters. • Assists Design team in project visualization preparation (3D and graphic presentation) to be presented to beneficiaries (clients). • Calculates building area and projection • Assists the Quantity surveyor in accounting construction quantities and cost estimates • Archives the hard & soft copies of all drawings and photos related to the project. • Supervises printing operations and intervene whenever deemed necessary. • Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Diploma in Architectural/ Civil design. • At least two years experience in architectural and construction drawing production. • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic Competencies • Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD • Well knowledge with computer programs related to his work and continuous learning of related programs to enhance and increase his ability and knowledge to prepare thorough and detailed drawings and designs • In-depth knowledge of the projects construction drawings and designs systems and familiar and able to translate sketches into detailed drawings. • Ability to maintain good working relationship with users and work within team environment. • Good Communication (both written& verbal) skills. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:- • Possession of a valid driving license in Jordan. • Good knowledge in: i. Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop ii. 3D AutoCAD, REVIT or 3Ds Max ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The incumbent will be required to reside in the field to which assigned and to travel in the Agency’s area of operations in the Middle East. Equivalency When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the concerned Director may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience. NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
