WORD ALIVE … Bringing the relevance of God’s Word to our everyday life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE COST OF YOUR SIN AND THE CURE FOR YOUR SIN (Vol 2; No 191) The blood that Jesus shed on the cross represents two things: The cost of your sin and the cure for your sin. Jesus didn’t just die for the sins of the whole world; He died for my sin; He died for your sin. We’ve got to personalized it in order to appropriate it. Someone said, “It is a simple thing to say that Christ died for the sins of the world. It is quite another thing to say that Christ died for my sins … It is a shocking thought that we can be as indifferent as Pilate, as scheming as Caiaphas, as callous as the Soldiers, as ruthless as the mob, or as cowardly as the disciples. It wasn’t just what they did – it was I who nailed Him to the tree. I crucified the Christ of God. I joined the mockery.” The cross where Jesus paid the ultimate price for our redemption portrays the love of God for mankind at its best. The horizontal beam of the cross symbolizes the breadth of God’s love that cuts across every nation, race and tribe upon the face of the earth. The vertical beam symbolizes the height and depth of God’s love, which reaches from the highest person to the lowest person. The picture of the cross depicts why God can be just and merciful without lowering His standards. It also shows why He can redeem us without sanctioning our sin. You need to be born again. In fact it is better you are not born at all into this world than to be born and not be born again. God “… wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth,” (1Timothy 2:4 NLT). The Bible says, “… God chose you to be saved” (1 Thessalonians 2:13 NIV). You are “… so loved by God! God picked you out as his from the very start. Think of it: included in Gods original plan of salvation by the bond of faith in the living truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:13 TM). A young lady was once asked to write an acrostic on the word J-E-S-U-S. This was what she wrote: Jesus Exactly Suits Us Sinners. How true that really is. It is only at the cross that the offending sinner can meet the offended God. The cross reveals man’s sin at its worst and God’s love at its best. Christ’s sacrifice is exactly what God desired and what our sin required. Jesus has paid the full price for your sin. You owe the debt you could not pay, and He paid the debt He did not owe so that your relationship with God may be restored.
