We have arrived home from the Melbourne adventure to our lovely comfy bed. Thank you to our Melbourne located support crew...... Sarah Winwood, wouldnt have got through to where I did without you telling me how awesome I looked and driving to as many of the vantage points as you could, Curtis Winwood for the course low down and estimates of how quick I had to be to catch our resident road runner Russell Winwood and for the foot rub to try to warm my freezing feet and Ryan Fairbairn for being there beside me from about the 7 or 8 km mark I think, even though you were were sick with a vomiting bug of some sort, and constant words of encouragement from all three of you. Miss Min Megs Fairbairn, I could hear your excited screams all the way in Melbourne and I know you would have been there running the course in your blanket if you could have been. All our friends and family who watched and supported our craziness, thank you very very much. Its been really good today reading through all the posts from yesterday while we are suffering in pain big time. For those who dont know I was asked to finish my day at the 26km mark (or just shy of ) of the run leg, coz I injured my dodgy knee on the bike so was struggling to run and was falling behind the cut off necessary to meet to finish in the allocated time. That part of the course had a few down hills which i couldnt manage, so my day ended in tears. Thankfully Russell hadnt waited for me, so he was able to finish his day on a high, what a legend! Thanks again! We are blessed to have 4 amazing kids between us and wonderful family and friends. Sleep tight, i know I will. Xx
