Went to a high school band competition tonight to support Adelaine. This reminded me of my HS band days and I have to share one of my favorite stories. Kim Brown and I were on snare and the field was more a mud pit than anything. As we marched backwards, Kim said I lost my shoe. I said, you, what? She said my shoe got stuck in the mud and i stepped out of it. I wasnt sure what to do at that point but I knew we couldnt bend down and pick it up. Then as we marched forward she said, i stepped back into it. I couldnt believe it and almost dropped my sticks trying not to laugh. How we did that whole show without missing a note or a chart is beyond me, but we never stopped playing or marching. Once off the field, Kim had the nastiest sock, and I laughed so hard, I think I may still have a stick impression on my arm from were she hit me. But truth be told, Im still impressed she put it back on and kept playing. Good times.
