While walking to the library from my last class of the day, I observed a young woman lose her footing and nearly kiss the concrete in front of her. Fortunately, one of her friends grabbed her backpack, saving her from a good deal of physical (and emotional) pain. After a few moments of mentally processing what had just occurred, I concluded that supportive friends and sturdy backpacks are necessities for college students. (And, it certainly does not hurt for those friends to be strong and have cat-like reflexes!)
