This paper, by FDI research intern Claire Corbould, examines the potential of urban and peri-urban farming to provide a solution to future food security issues. As rapid urbanisation continues, cities are vulnerable to food shortages because of their dependence on long supply chains. The paper looks at the challenges facing urban agriculture in both developed and developing countries and evaluates its ability to feed cities now and in the future.
