---SEPTEMBER is CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH... And its almost over... MY FAMILY (the Davidson Clan) experienced cancer the toughest way - Our son, CHANNING, was only 3 months old when his pediatrician felt a knot in his abdomen at a regular check up. After x-rays and a sonogram, he was diagnosed wuth a Wilms tumor on his left kidney. With the Grace of God, our family and friends encouraging us and praying us through EVERYTHING... and after surgery to remove his left kidney and infant chemo for 6 months... and checkups for the next 4 years... EVERYTHING HAS TURNED OUT FINE... (((PRAISE the LORD!!!))) CHANNING is now cancer free for EIGHT YEARS... an A & B Honor Roll Student in the THIRD GRADE... quite the Artist... and the TALLEST in his CLASS for the last three years!!! God is so good... All the time!!! And as my friend, Billy Wortham, two time cancer survivor suggests.... It was very early detection that made the difference for US too... Ill give you an example: When they found the tumor on his kidney at 3 months old it was the size of a golf ball... the Doctors at COOKs CHILDRENS HOSPITAL in FORT WORTH, TEXAS said that if it had NOT be detected at his 3 month check up - it most likely would have been missed until his 6 month checkup... and by then the tumor would have been the size of a softball... and required a whole year of chemo instead of 6 months... (and radiation which is very bad for developing babies - we skipped this too) EARLY DETECTION... I rest my case. God bless... get the test. So if YOU havent DONE AT LEAST ONE THING THIS MONTH to HELP BRING AWARENESS to EVERYONE YOU KNOW... Or havent CONTRIBUTED to your FAVORITE CHILDRENS HOSITAL...
