- The proximity of these irregular Mon-Soon has been disastrous, as death troll rises above hundreds leaving millions affected. The carelessness weve opted towards environment individually, and as a nation, is regrettable and seriously needs to be reconsidered. Current irregularities of seasons were predicted decades ago, but in vain, as there were no measures taken by authorities at any level. From Atta-Abad Lake incident to 2010 floods and, to current situation, there have been 3 major floods in last 5 years giving heads up, but of no effect on us. Temperature is rising up; glaciers are melting; per capita water is alarmingly low; and, floods are hazardous, more and more dangerous with each passing year. But, hey, we are deafened to this alarm; we are blind to this darkness and we are senseless to this stink. As Eliot says, We are the hollow men. We know how to come on street in name of religion, or when Israel shows aggression, but we cant come out to pressurize Government to take precautionary measures to avert such floods. We can set up tents in front of Parliament in name of democracy but we cant come out to ask for proper water governance and building of dams. We submit ourselves and our money to Non State Terrorist actors but we keep harping and do hue and cry if asked to pay for water we use. Perhaps, woe be to me, we are destined to be nation living in poverty, isolation and underdevelopment. Improbable, we deserve this disparity, for GOD states in his Holy Book: You only get what you strive for.
