A fault in Our Stars might be an original and heart warming love story that emerges out of tragedy. I wont know because I refuse to watch it. That is because the premise of this movie isnt a new one by far. If anything it is too common and indicative of our sick society. Even accounting for population growth, the general cases of cancer have increased. More so, I have to question the true quality of this movie when every single media source is providing 24 hour marketing of the movie. Every time I turn on the radio I either hear the song Boom Clap or an advertisement for A Fault in Our Stars. Would such an amazing movie require such brain-washing level amount of advertising ? I think not. The true purpose of such a movie is to normalize people to the idea cancer prevalence, and then distract from this terrible truth by providing a love story. More so, this a part of the continuum of other marketing techniques to divert peoples attention from looking to the true causes of cancer, to the acceptance of cancer prevalence and searching for a cure . All in all, American industries have put a major emphasis on normalizing the prevalence of cancer, avoid looking to the causes of cancer, and give false hope in finding knock out cures , that will not arrive in the near future ;through extensive marketing campaigns that dole out platitudes to the point of brain wash. theguardian/film/2014/jun/19/fault-in-our-stars-review-john-green
