How can I resist her sweet crooked smile and pleading brown eyes? She has a unique look quite unlike any other dog Ive seen and her off-beat beauty endears her to everyone she meets. When I introduce myself with a treat, Sasha takes it very gently from my hand but I soon realize that she doesnt have the teeth for such a hard snack and we settle on canned food instead. Just a little bit as she has some substantial middle age spread - clearly food was plentiful in her former home. Sashas owner recently passed away and this lovely girl lost not only her human but her home as well. The whole situation has understandably left her feeling a bit down and though she responds to my caresses there is a sadness in her eyes and manner. Winter has come to Sashas heart and it will take time for her spirit to blossom again. Other dogs pass by and she greets them with low-key but friendly interest then stands patiently while a staff member smooshes her face in admiration. So docile and amiable, an easy walker and seemingly house trained too, Sasha is such a charming companion and its with regret that I finally return her to her den. Every dog deserves to spend their golden years in comfort and security and Sasha needs you now. Lets show her that life can be sweet again. ♥ A volunteer writes:Its our last night together and Sasha greets me like an old friend,Save eagerly toddling up to the kennel door. She charmed me from the start and Ive made sure I take her out every time I come into the Care Center. For this smallest of favors, Sasha loves me with all her heart. What can I say that her sweet eyes dont already? Here is a one-in-a-million dog whose affectionate nature and unique looks are priceless, there will never be another Sasha. As she rests her head on my lap then stretches her nose skyward while I rub her side, I can only hope that tomorrow is the first day of the rest of her life instead of the last she will ever see.
