(¸¸.♥➷♥•*¨)¸.•´¸.•*¨) ¸.•*¨) CAMPFIRE We were children then (Children of the flame) The sound of constellations And earthstars fell from our Lips more because we loved The sound of them than knew What they meant. Finishing off more S’mores Than our stomachs could handle. Ghost stories meant to haunt Us from a good night’s sleep How some headless thing would Find us in the deep darkness and do ungodly things to us. Sounds of the cicadas, crickets, Fogs mating near the pond Night sounds that kept us company Long after we returned to our Pup tents. And I lay there beneath the sky Separated only by the tent fabric Hearing songs of nature and The flickering campfire Burning the last of its Mortal embers. No time to feel homesick. I fell Asleep, too fearful of the headless Thing waiting outside to devour me. I kept repeating those words I loved: Neptune, stardust, earthstar. Surely They would save me? I’m here today: they must have. Copyright 2013 ♥Susan Joyner-Stumpf♫ (¸¸.♥➷♥•*¨)¸.•´¸.•*¨) ¸.•*¨)
