0 / Some family history of mine ... The Rev. Robert McBride was the Presbyterian Minister of 1st Ballymoney Congregation (1716-1759) (Episcopalian) Church of Ireland. The Rev. Robert was father of the famous surgeon - doctor David McBride of the Naval Medical Service who recommended the first cure for scurvy on ships in the Royal Navy. (y) success at last!!! The Rev. Robert McBride interestingly had warrants out for his arrest by the local Catholic bishops in Ireland: - however, to avoid capture he used to slip across to Scotland from Ireland in disguise. And while away in hiding he would preach over there. In the end, he was so well liked by the local people in Ireland that no-one turned him in, or over to the Catholic Church. .. a master-stroke!! from the end of the Dark Ages .. 0 / another McBride who liked a bit of disguise ;) ...
