02/08/2014 DAILY SPRING: TOPIC: THE LAW OF CONTINUITY TEXT: JOHN 8:31 Every good relationship requires continuing loyalty, love and obedience. All human activities, being with his fellow man or God are hinged on relationship; hence, continuity is required in terms of loyalty, love and obedience to make it flourish. Besides, it is impossible to be a true Child of God and live as followers of Jesus Christ without continuing in His word. Therefore, continuity is a fundamental law to the kingdom of God. In the above scripture, the Lord Jesus Christ told the Jews who believed on Him to continue in His word, in order to be His disciples. In rounding up His earthly ministry, He also admonishes them to continue in His love (Joh.15:19) to enable them maintain the true spirit of discipleship. The Bible recorded that after the Pentecost, the Apostles recognized the essence of continuity; by being together in one accord in the Temple studying, praying and breaking bread (Acts.2:46). Apostle Paul and Barnabas gave this wonderful admonition to those who believed on the gospel at Cyprus in Act 13:43 “Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God” Beloved, as children of God by Christ Jesus, we are encouraged to take this positive position, irrespective of our circumstances Rom 12:12 “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing earnest in prayer” We are also implored to continue in faith, prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving (Col.1:23; Col.4:2). I believe that as we continue to love God in studying His word, praying, fasting and extending the same love to our brethren, the name of the Lord shall be glorified. PRAYER: Psa 36:10 O continue Your loving-kindness to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
