03/30/14 was a beautiful Spring Sunday in Los Angeles and I was out on my BMW running around before the opening reception of the Mike Kelley exhibition which I was excited about celebrating because it had been an especially challenging installation. A few blocks from my house a car pulling out of a driveway hit me and I went over the bars. The driver did stop and does have insurance. I was taken to the ER and given 8 stitches in my right ankle where the car compressed my leg into the bike and a sling for my broken left collar bone. The doctors were very surprised and a little impressed that my injuries werent worse, those are the blessings of good gear and being athletic. While I am grateful my injuries are minor and I have an incredible support system of friends and family, this go down has been hard to get through and the last three weeks are a bit of a blur. The aches and pains go deeper than muscle and bone bruises and some wounds take longer to heal. But just like my clavicle which will always have a bump, once healed this break will be stronger than it was before the accident. Thank you for all the well wishes and love, it really does help the healing process along. 555 2014 racing season on hold until further notice. xo
